Daddy, Daddy is what I have heard all day! I got the joy of taking care of our kids and doing all the duties that mom typically does during the course of the day. You see, mom is really sick and so she needed me. Yet here is the other side of the coin, the two girls are sick as well. So all day it has been daddy, daddy…get me this, wipe this, can I do this, and of course the typical arguments between a 2 year old and 4 year old. At the end of the day, I have come to a conclusion: If you are a stay at home mom, you have a tough job. (I cannot imagine being a single parent; props to all of you out there.) You are to be commended. I so appreciate my wife, she is the best.
Finally, let me say this; it was such a joy as well to get to spend the day with my children. Even if they were sick. Time is one thing we never get back, so whether it is a sick day or a weekend, being with my girls is always good. They are such great kids.
As I close today, let me give you three things God has brought to my mind since being a parent.
1. Be in love with God. Nobody can teach children about God better than the mom and dad. If you want your kids to love God, then be in love with God yourself.
2. Be consistent. In your attitude, your correction, and your life. Your children need an example in their life.
3. Be involved. More than anything, children want to know they are loved. So spend time with your children. Turn off the phone and gadgets and go to the activities. Talk, sing, and play with your children.
I am sure many of you parents out there can add a million more suggestions to this list, but these are just a few simple ones God is teaching me everyday.
By the way, I think I am sick now. :(
